I've been busy lately. Health problems have taken up my time with hospital stays, doctors appointments and plenty of medical bills but we won't focus on the bad times only...
...the good: Travel.
I recently visited the great country (don't laugh) of Canada! Even though we are far too old for a family trip, that's exactly what it was. Ironically our last 'family trip' was also to Canada. When I was 18 we took a train from Calgary to Vancouver now, countless years later, we did the other side. For a week we visited Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto and Stratford.
It's interesting that no matter what age I am, family trips are always a
My favourite (that's Canadian, hah) part was definitely Niagara Falls. Maybe because that was the first leg of our trip and I was delighted to be out of Alabama, but we'll just say it was the amazing scenery.
Some Canada highlights-
Niagara Falls: the town is sort of a Canadian Vegas which is an odd contrast to the natural beauty. All the attractions are slightly expensive but worth it. I loved Behind the Falls and the Maid of the Mist.
Niagara-on-the-Lake: The little town is superbly adorable. With cute little cafes and quaint shopping. We took a deadly bike ride for about 20 miles on the wonderful bike path that winds along the river all the way back to the falls. Wish we could have gone out on the lake as well.
Toronto: I was stoked to be in a real city. I have a weird love for public transportation and thoroughly enjoyed the subway. We also had dinner at the top of the CN Tower which was a great way to see everything.
Stratford: caught a play at the Shakespeare Festival. Well, not exactly a Shakespearean play but the best rendition of Peter Pan ever!
After a week I was happy to see J and the kids, but sad to be heading back to Bama. So I decided, on the plane, that we needed to get out more. One of the things J and I said when we agreed to go on this crazy flight school adventure was that at least we'd get to see a part of the country that we might not normally visit. However, we haven't been anywhere. Okay, that's not true. We've been to the beach maybe 3 times, and to three different airports, and to Pensacola to pick up my car.
See? We're boring.
So last weekend, 4 days after I arrived home from Canada, we left for Savannah, Ga. And the traveling begins!
